"Utilizing a virtual assistant or VA can also be a way for attorneys to provide value and deliver their services in a non-traditional manner. Jennifer Phillips, owner of J&C Virtual Staffing in Washington, DC, offers virtual assistant services worldwide. Phillips says that using a VA can be a great way for existing and emerging law firms to save on costs, which in turn equals savings for clients. She also said that a VA can perform many administrative tasks, including organizing digital files,
screening e-mail and providing responses, generating invoices, managing databases, maintaining electronic files, generating reports, and creating newsletters. Other services that she says a VA can perform include: accounting/bookkeeping services, human resources services and procurement services. She notes that a VA is more cost-effective because overhead costs, benefits, and other costs like workers’ compensation insurance are not factored into the salary of a VA. When you factor in those items, the true cost of an actual employee is much more, she says. In addition, a VA can be used on a per project basis, when space constraints are an issue, or to meet the demands of a growing workload."
